8 December 1966
Capt Michael Lewis Hyde (KIA)
Another aircraft was lost on a close air support mission in South Vietnam about an hour after the B-57 was shot down. Capt Hyde was dropping napalm on VC troops involved in a firefight 10 miles southeast of True Clang in the Mekong Delta when his aircraft was hit by small arms fire. Capt Hyde may have been wounded as he did not eject from the aircraft before it crashed moments later. 56-3063 originally served with the 481st TFS at Cannon AFB.
