Bien Hoa AB (7AF) - The Buzzards of Bien Hoa AB recently became the first F-100 Supersabre unit in South Vietnam to fly 20,000 combat hours.

On the same date, the Buzzards, as the 510th Tactical Fighter Squadron is called, completed their second year of combat operations in the Republic.

The 510th is part of the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing.  The squadron arrived here Nov. 10, 1965, to become the first Tactical Air Command squadron permanently based in Vietnam.

The Buzzards have caused the Viet Cong many headaches during the past two years.  The unit has destroyed 8,651 fortifications, damaged 10,896 others and killed, by body count, 1,505 enemy troops.  They have demolished 2,830 bunkers and damaged 1,075 others.

The 510th joined the wing on Jan. 8, 1964, at England AFB LA., after transferring from Clark AB, Philippines.  The 48-year-old 3rd is the oldest wing on continuous active duty in the Air Force.
